Subject: a Rose for the Republic #ilcuoredellarepubblica (the heart of the republic)
Dear friends,
This year on June 2nd we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the referendum held on June 2nd 1946.
I will be in Cervia to inaugurate Giuseppe Mazzini’s monument, strongly desired by the “Ornella Piraccini” Section, and take part in many other initiatives that will bring the Italian Mazzinian Association back to the main square on Republic Day.
The first thought that naturally comes to mind in these times of rebirth – unfortunately – are the 126,000 victims of Covid, including many of our members, who will not be able to be with us.
In their memory, and as a gesture of hope for the future, we invite all the Sections and all friends to place a rose at the foot of a monument that remembers Mazzini, the Resistance or the Italian Republic and posting the photo on social media or sending it to the Facebook pages of the Mazzinian Association or the Domus Mazziniana.
Just over a year ago we launched the hahstag #ilcuoredellarepubblica with Domus Mazziniana. On the afternoon of June 2nd at 4pm, we will hold a live conference with Professor Francesco Bonini entitled June 2nd 1946. A European date.
I can only thank all of you for the work accomplished in these difficult months. From an organizational point of view, but above all human, we have learned a lot: thanks to the Sections and to the Individual Members who gave fundamental support, not only financially, but in the constant work of the Organizational Secretariat, the Treasury, the National Management and “Il Pensiero Mazziniano “.
